Day 60: Two Months In

Ran 4 miles today. It wasn't that bad. Down to 135 pounds without clothes on. So tired today...I need to sleep more. 2 months into my challenge I feel like I have really changed my lifestyle without depriving myself of anything. Wonderful=)

Day 57: Giving up Booze

So the last 5 days have not been successful with exercise or nutrition. I definetly over-ate from Friday thru Sunday and did not exercise one bit. I feel like crap.

I drank on Saturday night and was hungover most of Sunday morning into afternoon. I had to sleep it off. Ugh, I hate being hungover! And it happens now when I just have a drink or two.

I have decided to abstain from alcohol. I can have fun without it! I like to be busy and productive and make the most of my weekends.

With that being said, I still weigh in around 137. I am happy with that, but some of my old jeans are way too tight to wear in public. I still need to keep working hard to get that 7 pounds off.

Let the week begin!

Day 52: Nothing New

Monday night (Day 50), I went to hot yoga downtown. It's called CorePower Yoga. I'm trying to make use of my free week. It was good...I got really sweaty. Unfortunatly, after class I was washing my hands and one of the diamonds from my ring popped off and fell down the drain so I was sad. There is insurance on the ring so I am going to take it in this weekend. Blah.

Yesterday (Tuesday, Day 51), Allison and I did a bunch of strength training stuff in the a.m. Upper and lower body exercises. Did a mile and a half on the treadmill. I am sore today from the weights.

Today, (Day 52) we just did cardio. I did 40 minutes on the treadmill and some ab stuff. I feel like my workout was kinda half-a**ed. Excuse my language. I did sweat, but it wasn't that hard. I just wasn't that excited about working out today. I had to shovel my car out of the parking spot by our apartment because of the snow heaps.

I keep thinking about how great it's gonna be to be able to run outside all year round when I'm in Arizona. Or at least at night when it's too hot during the day. There will be so much more scenery to look instead of the monotonous treadmill. My headphones don't work either, so I have to just read the subtitles on the tv's. Till then...treadmill it is...at least until the snow stops.

Old Jeans Fit!!!

Monday Feb. 8, 2010

Recap of the weekend:
Weight: 137 pounds
Saturday: (rest) shoulders, arms, and hamstrings were extremely sore from yoga on Friday. Took day off.
Sunday: (rest) shoulders still sore but could have worked out...but did not.

But the big news is...I TRIED ON, AND FIT INTO AN OLD PAIR OF JEANS!!! Woo whoo=)=)=)

I will post an after pic...I think the before photo would be innapropriate because I was only able to pull up the pants mid-thigh. You get the picture!

So, I was very doubtful before attempting to try them on because I was afraid I was going to be let down, but ended up shockingly surprised at how I was able to get them on! So to celebrate the superbowl and my jean-feat I chowed down on about 1000 calories of delicious chicken, pizza, and chips. This will happen only once, I promise. I've been eating so well I deserve at least 1 cheat day. Back on track today =)

HOT Yoga

Saturday: Day 48: February 6th, 2010

Yesterday I took a half-day of work and it was amazing. I was able to catch up with friends and make it a very productive day. I had RoJo drag his scale out of storage and put it in the bathroom so I have something to use at home.

Haille and I went to this nail place downtown to get mani/pedi's. 22 dollars total before tip! They did a great job and I will defn go back because it's so cheap! If anyone wants a referral let me know and I'll tell u how to get there. So that was good, we grabbed lunch and did that.

She also told me this place offers a week free of this "HOT" yoga and I was like ooohh, we have a few hours still so we decided to do a class. For this particular class they turned on the heat so the room got hot. The yoga was very flowy and a bit different that what I am used to so it definetly was a challenge! I really liked it though. Apparently this was a beginner class and it was the least hot of them all. I plan on setting up a day in the next week to try the really HOT class. The room heats up to 103 degrees with 40 percent humidity! Very awesome when you look out the windows to the left to see a full-on Chicago snowstorm.

So definetly sore from that. We plan on going to the gym tonight to run. I haven't had a good run in a while. But I am down to 137 pounds which is awesome. The calorie tracker is really helping me out. Got my taxes done yesterday, Caroline helped me figure that out. We had a wine/cheese/hummus tax date. So overall, good day! Now my goal for tomorrow is to fill out my FAFSA for grad school and I will be on track!

K, time to go walk Gus and get groceries!

Day 45: Massage Reward

Last night yoga was pretty easy. I can tell my upper body is getting stronger because the downward dog poses actually feel like a resting position now (which they are supposed to be), instead of difficult, which up until now have been. We did some strength training afterwards...just a few exercises; dead lift with 60 lbs, bench press with 65 lbs, and long lunges with 25 lbs.

I've decided that once my body weight gets to 140 pounds I am going to treat myself to the massage that Rojo got me for Christmas. I still have about 2 pounds to go, so once I get down to '140.something' I will schedule the appointment! =)

It's nice to have goals and a plan. I am really happy with the way things have been going in my life. For a while there I was getting too comfortable and complacent. I feel more confident knowing that I am trying to better myself, mentally and physically. Exercise and nutrition really play an important role in how I feel everyday.

Working out really gives me more energy, and even though I still think about just staying home and doing nothing (I did for a split second yesterday), but then re-focused my attention on the goals I have. I know that if I slack off just one day, it will be that much easier to "take it easy" for 2, 3, 4 days until I get back into the slump I was in for over a year!

And, yes, it does help living with a nutritionist/personal trainer boyfriend...but it was me who decided that I wanted to do something for myself. He loves me no matter what and I just got too comfortable with myself which is why I gained weight and stopped exercising. He aids in educating me, but I am the one doing the workouts and putting the food in my mouth.

I am having fun learning how to cook and figuring out what keeps me fuller longer with healthy meals and snacks. I wish I had a way to post the pictures of some of the stuff I've cooked! =)

Day 44: Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010

Yesterday morning I tried something new. Running with the dog. Since we bought a new "choke" collar for Gus, he has been walking a LITTLE bit better, and by better I mean not dragging me down the street completely. So yesterday it went well. 40 minutes of jogging with him and he seemed happy.

I attempted it again this morning, but it snowed last night and was snowing this morning. Gus won the pulling battle. So we did not actually jog...he ended up dragging me along the sidewalk for the 30 minutes we were outside. I might give it another try when it is clear outside, and Gus isn't freaking out/excited about the snow.

Tonight is yoga. I need it! I really need to get a good run in today, I am not sore anymore!!
